Prague-born mathematician Ivo Babuska (b. 1926) is a professor at University of Texas. He achieved groundbreaking results in the numerical solution of differential equations, wrote more than ten monographs and founded the journal Applications of Mathematics. He is an honorary member of the Czech Learned Society.
