| Belgian expressionist painter Edgard Tytgat (1879-1957) joined the Brabant fauvists that gathered around Rik Wouters. Attempting to reduce painting to color and lines, he developed the "poetic" style evident in his Invitation to Paradise (1922), which shows him leading children and animals into a butterfly garden. |
