Gu Chaohao (b. 1926) is a mathematician who has made contributions to both pure and applied mathematics. Elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980, he has achieved important results in the problem of supersonic flow around wings and the study of equations of fixed type in higher dimensions.
