16253 Griffis           Discovered 2000 Apr. 29 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team at Socorro.
Named in honor of Wanda Griffis for mentoring a finalist in the 2002 Intel Science Talent Search, a science competition for high school seniors. Griffis is a teacher at the Murphy High School, Mobile, Alabama.
