12614 Hokusai           Discovered 1960 Sept. 24 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld on Palomar Schmidt plates taken by T. Gehrels.
Japanese wood-carver amd painter Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) carved some 35~000 sheets and painted mainly landscapes in dramatic form. Although his bridges and waterfalls are most famous, he also painted street scenes. He strongly influenced the European art of Impressionism and Jugendstil.
