12613 Hogarth           Discovered 1960 Sept. 24 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld on Palomar Schmidt plates taken by T. Gehrels.
William Hogarth (1697-1764) was an English painter and copper-plate engraver. His rendition of life at his time was often humorous and satirical. He fought to ensure copyright protection for designers and engravers, and "Hogarth's Act" was passed by Parliament in 1735.
